Line/area coupler

Code: EK-BA1-TP

Line/area coupler

Description

The Ekinex® line / area coupler EK-BA1-TP can be used as a line coupler to connect a secondary line to a main line, as an area coupler to connect a main line to a backbone line, or as a line repeater to extend line length and device capacity.

The device provides complete galvanic insulation between the two connected bus lines and filters traffic based on its hierarchical installation position or on group address filter tables.

The coupler supports extended telegrams (up to 250 bytes APDU). The 6 frontal LED indicators clearly display bus activity on each line, transmission errors, and group/physical routing status, greatly facilitating commissioning and diagnostics.

A front-panel function pushbutton enables installers to temporarily bypass filter tables or activate dedicated testing modes during installation, runtime operation, and troubleshooting.

Connections and Delivery

  • Connection to main and secondary bus lines with standard KNX terminal blocks (included)
  • 30 Vdc powered directly from the KNX bus line (no auxiliary power required)
  • Standard 35 mm DIN-rail mounting according to EN 60715 (2 modular units = 36 mm)
  • Standard delivery includes two bus connection terminal blocks (red/black)
